ALEA Aircraft Accident/Incident Survey

During the last 5 years, law enforcement aviation has had 87 accidents, 89 people killed or injured, and millions of dollars of aircraft, equipment and property have been damaged and/or destroyed. These numbers should be unacceptable by any standard, but we need additional information in order to develop meaningful solutions. We have no information relating to incidents, those occurrences that are safety related, but do not result in an accident.

Please read and respond to this questionnaire. It is anonymous as to the identity of the organization and individual(s) involved. It is intended to determine the number and make and model of aircraft operated in the law enforcement community, and what, if any, correlation there is between the make and model aircraft operated, and related accidents and incidents. We need a reply from every organization.

In order to fully understand the scope of issues with both military surplus and civil aircraft, we need to know the total number, including make and model, of all aircraft operated since January 1, 1999.

Thank you for your support.
